BGI introduced gene sequencing services and sequencers and demonstrated MGIUS-R3, a robotic and real-time ultrasound system, which received the appreciation from many visitors including senior officials, and business people.

9 April 2019, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina – BGI participated in the 22nd International Economic Fair Mostar, presenting its genomics capabilities and advanced medical technologies at the invitation of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC).

At the exhibition, BGI introduced its gene sequencing services and systems, alongside a live demonstration of the MGIUS-R3 remote ultrasound system. The technology attracted significant attention from government officials, industry representatives and international delegates.

The MGIUS-R3 is a robotic, real-time ultrasound system designed to overcome geographical barriers in medical diagnostics. It enables clinicians to remotely control an ultrasound probe and receive live imaging feedback, allowing diagnosis to be conducted from thousands of miles away. This approach improves access to healthcare in remote and underserved regions while increasing efficiency and reducing response times.

During the event, senior officials and delegates visited the BGI booth to observe the system in operation and discuss its potential applications. The system was recognised for its ability to enhance diagnostic capability and support modern telemedicine infrastructure.

BGI also participated in the China–Central and Eastern European Countries Business and City Cooperation Forum. In his address, Ning Li, Vice President of BGI Group, highlighted the organisation’s global approach to innovation through the integration of industry, education and research. He reaffirmed BGI’s commitment to expanding international collaboration and applying genomic technologies across healthcare, agriculture and environmental sectors.
