FragQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What are the differences between FragQ-S18 and FragQ-S100? When should I choose each model?
The main difference is sample capacity. Choose based on your lab’s sample volume and workflow needs. FragQ-S18 can process 1-18 samples, while FragQ-S100 can process 1-100 samples. When only evaluating fragment patterns, FragQ-S18 handles a maximum of 18 samples and FragQ-S100 handles 100 samples. For size evaluation only, capacity is 17 and 99 samples respectively. For size evaluation with relative quantification, capacity is 16 and 98 samples respectively.
Does the instrument come with a built-in computer?
No, the instrument does not have a built-in computer. An external computer is required to operate the system via the Q-Analyzer software for FragQ-S18/S100. Follow the computer specifications provided in the instrument operation manual to prepare your operation computer.
What precautions should I take when installing and using the air pump?
Make sure both ends of the air tubing are securely connected to the pump and instrument. When the air pump is turned on, a blue light indicates power-on status, and a green light appears once the system reaches required pressure. Before analysis, check the water cup on the air pump for accumulated condensate and release it by opening the valve at the bottom of the water cup.
Is regular maintenance required? What is the recommended maintenance interval?
Yes, regular maintenance is recommended to ensure optimal performance. We suggest performing preventive maintenance once a year or based on the frequency of use. For comprehensive instrument care, consider scheduling yearly preventive maintenance through your local distributor.
What should I be aware of if I need to move the instrument?
Before moving the instrument, remove all internal components such as the cartridge, samples, and buffers. Click “Lock” in the software to let the instrument motor move to the lock position. Follow the packing procedure in the user manual to secure the instrument’s motor with protection foam or lock materials before transportation.
What are the storage conditions for cartridge kits?
DNA Cartridge Kit: DO NOT freeze. Store between 4°C and 30°C, and keep in the protective bag and cartridge box to prevent light exposure. RNA Cartridge Kit: DO NOT freeze. Store between 15°C and 30°C, and keep in the protective bag and cartridge box to prevent light exposure. For detailed information, please refer to the Cartridge Storage Condition User Guide.
Does opening the cartridge affect its shelf life?
The shelf life of cartridge kits is 4-6 months, depending on the cartridge type. Opening the cartridge does not affect its original shelf life. You can use it as needed within the 4-6 month window.
S2, S3, and N1 are all DNA cartridges. How should I choose which one to use?
S2 Standard Cartridge: Use for general DNA fragments ranging from 20 bp to 5,000 bp. Suitable for fragmented or library samples. S3 Kilobase Cartridge: Choose for larger DNA fragments (20 bp to 60,000 bp). Recommended for genomic DNA. N1 High Sensitivity Cartridge: Select for low-concentration DNA samples (20 bp to 5,000 bp). Particularly useful for cell-free DNA samples.
How often should the separation buffer be replaced?
FragQ-S100: Replace the separation buffer every 2-3 days or after analysing 96 samples. FragQ-S18: Depends on the sample tray used. For 8-well or 12-well trays, replace buffers after running 20 samples. For 18-strip trays, replace after running 30 samples. The software will also display a reminder when a buffer change is recommended.
Can I import sample information into the Q-Analyzer software? Can I import via Excel?
Yes, the Q-Analyzer software includes an Excel template. You can enter sample details in advance using the template (typically located at Users\Q-Analyzer for Qsep100\Sample\ExcelSampleExample.xlsx), then simply import the Excel file directly into the software. This is useful for managing many sample entries at once.
