What is the difference between DNBSEQ-G400 and MGISEQ-2000?

They are the same instrument. The product model names DNBSEQ-G400 and MGISEQ-2000 are used in selected overseas countries and China, respectively.

The StandardMPS 2.0 Reagent Set (SM2.0) is an upgraded version of the existing StandardMPS Reagent Set (SM). It uses DNA polymerases with higher polymerization efficiency to improve signal intensity and stability. The Q-value table is trained with data closer to actual estimates, resulting in more accurate data interpretation and Q40 > 85%.

No. SM and SM2.0 reagents cannot be used in the same sequencing run.

The initial version released in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and Hong Kong is internally referred to as SM+. The global version is referred to as SM2.0. SM2.0 is further optimized and includes App-D integrated sequencing reagents compatible with third-party libraries, in addition to MGI libraries.

The officially released SM2.0 reagent version follows the SM reagent naming convention. In user manuals and product labels, the English name adds “Reagent” after “Sequencing”. Versions differ by region (e.g., V4.0 / V5.0 for certain markets, V1.0 for App-D reagents). Refer to the regional product name and model tables for exact details.

Compatibility has evolved across ECR versions (ECR1.0 to ECR7.1+). Newer control software (ZebraV2Seq) and algorithm software (BasecallLite) support both SM and SM2.0 reagents. Always check the latest release notes for your instrument’s upgrade code to ensure full compatibility.

Yes. Due to improved data quality and more concentrated Q-value distribution with SM2.0 reagents, fq data compresses more efficiently, resulting in smaller file sizes for the same amount of data.

Yes. In the future, FCS SM reagents, FCL SM reagents, and FCL SM2.0 reagents will continue to be supplied. FCS SM2.0 reagents will not be released.
