SP-NEX - Frequently Asked Questions

What is MGISP-NEX and what is it used for?

MGISP-NEX is an automated system for nucleic acid extraction, sample transfer and PCR setup, designed for flexible, high-throughput laboratory workflows.

The system measures 1410 × 799 × 970 mm (L × W × H), excluding handles and the laminar flow shield.

MGISP-NEX delivers high precision with CV <1% for most volumes and accuracy up to ±1%, ensuring reliable and reproducible liquid handling.

It supports a wide range of applications including oncology, infectious disease detection, reproductive health screening, and agricultural breeding.

The system enables nucleic acid extraction, automated sample transfer, and PCR system preparation within a single integrated workflow.

It uses interchangeable magnetic rod modules: 96 rods for standard volumes and 24 rods for larger volumes up to 5000 μL, enabling flexible processing.

It is optimised for tissue, plasma and blood samples for genomic DNA extraction, with support for additional sample types in development.

Yes. It integrates with ZLIMS and third-party LIMS systems, and as an open platform, supports both pre-packaged and tube-based third-party reagents.

It uses negative pressure filtration, UV sterilisation and anti-drip design to minimise contamination and ensure safe, stable operation.
