7 January 2019, San Jose, USA – MGI announced a major milestone of 1,000 sequencing systems installed across 16 countries, reflecting growing global adoption of its genomic technologies.
The milestone installation was completed at LAS (Life Is Art of Science Co., Ltd.), a company focused on genomic research and clinical diagnostic applications in South Korea.
“We made a great choice with the MGISEQ-2000 sequencer,” said Dongho Kim, Lab Director at LAS. “We experienced high accuracy and user-friendly workflows for DNA and RNA sequencing, along with relatively low running costs.”
MGI also announced the early access programme for its DNBSEQ-T7 ultra-high-throughput sequencer during China Focus@JPM Week, ahead of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. The programme enables collaboration with partners through customised instruments, reagents and flexible commercial models, with plans for global expansion.
The DNBSEQ-T7 platform delivers up to 6 Tb of data per day, supporting large-scale genomic applications. Its quad-flowcell design allows independent and simultaneous runs, improving flexibility and efficiency across multiple sequencing applications.
MGI’s broader ecosystem includes automated sample preparation systems (MGISP series), bioinformatics acceleration tools (MegaBOLT) and laboratory management software (ZLIMS), providing an integrated workflow for high-throughput sequencing.
In addition, MGI announced a global partnership with Paragon Genomics to expand access to target enrichment solutions and automated sample preparation systems across international markets.
MGI’s technologies continue to support large-scale population genomics projects, reducing timeframes and costs while improving accessibility to high-quality sequencing.
