TOKYO, Japan – 21 May 2019 – MGI announced a new single-cell RNA sequencing package as part of the 10x Genomics Compatible Product Partner Program, supporting its MGISEQ and BGISEQ sequencing platforms.

The package combines the MGIEasy Universal Library Conversion Kit with 10x Genomics Chromium Controller and single-cell RNA sequencing solutions. It enables compatibility between 10x Genomics workflows and MGI sequencing systems, expanding flexibility for researchers.

The solution was presented at the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Workshop on Single Cell Biology in Tokyo, where MGI hosted a luncheon session.

Performance of MGI’s single-cell sequencing technology has been independently evaluated by research groups at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in the UK and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Australia. Results showed that data generated on MGI platforms is comparable to other leading sequencing systems, while offering cost advantages.

MGI’s DNBSEQ™ technology uses DNA nanoball-based rolling circle replication, a PCR-free approach that reduces error accumulation and improves data consistency.

Further studies comparing MGISEQ-2000 with other platforms demonstrated consistent performance in identifying cells, genes, and molecular indices in single-cell RNA sequencing workflows.

This development builds on MGI’s participation in the 10x Genomics partner programme, confirming compatibility between 10x Genomics single-cell solutions and MGI sequencing platforms.

MGI continues to expand its ecosystem through compatible workflows and technologies, supporting a broader range of applications including oncology, exome sequencing, and infectious disease research.
