TORONTO, May 16, 2022 — MGI, a company dedicated to being a world-leading life science innovator, launched its co-funding program, The Great Canadian Sequencing Challenge, on April 8 in Canada. The program aims to help researchers access high-quality, cost-effective sequencing using DNA Nanoball technology.
At the forefront of genomic sequencing innovation, MGI is providing researchers with unique opportunities to accelerate their work. The Great Canadian Sequencing Challenge offers three prize options: the first prize receives a free loan of the DNBSEQ sequencer*, the second prize receives up to 50% off their next MGI product purchase, and the third prize receives up to 40% off their next MGI product purchase.
Special awards will also be granted in select categories. A $20,000 grant will be awarded to a project contributing to women’s health, and MGI will offer a 15% discount to every facility that applies, making advanced genomic sequencing more accessible.
To further advance genomic research, MGI is hosting a webinar in partnership with the University of British Columbia, titled Decoding Ligand-Receptor Circuits Involved in Progressive Cardiac Fibrosis, on May 19. Presenters Dr. Zachary Laksman, MD, Dr. Leili Rohani, PhD, and Dr. Derek Toms, PhD, from UBC, will provide a comprehensive overview of their research on cardiac arrhythmias using MGI’s genomic sequencing*.
During the webinar, the UBC team will discuss their research methods and tools, share results, and highlight how their work is driving progress in the study of cardiac arrhythmias. Attendees, including clinical researchers and cardiologists, will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about MGI’s sequencing technologies* and their applications in research.
Both the webinar and the co-funding program share a common goal: to unlock the full potential of genomic sequencing and promote advanced life science tools for future healthcare. These initiatives aim to educate, expand access to resources, and explore new horizons in genomics.
The Great Canadian Sequencing Challenge is open to applications from genomics researchers across Canada. Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2022, and winners will be announced on June 30, 2022. The webinar, Decoding Ligand-Receptor Circuits Involved in Progressive Cardiac Fibrosis, will take place on May 19, 2022, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time and 11:00 AM Eastern Time.
