MGI DNBSEQ-T7+ integrated ultra-high-throughput sequencer - automated 7-in-1 workflow system

SAN JOSE, CA, United States, 21 February 2020 — MGI announced the commercial launch of its sequencing instruments and reagent kits in the United States, featuring its innovative CoolMPS™ sequencing chemistry, starting April 2020.

MGI plans to roll out its G series DNBSEQ™ sequencers in Q2 and T series DNBSEQ sequencers in Q3, alongside CoolMPS sequencing kits and library preparation kits supporting whole genome, whole exome, RNA, metagenomics, single-cell sequencing and more. These instruments combine the cost-effective, PCR-free core patterned array technology with CoolMPS chemistry to deliver higher quality, longer and more accurate sequencing reads.

Recent research (bioRxiv, doi:10.1101/2019.12.20.885517) shows up to a 55% reduction in WGS indel errors on PCR-free DNBSEQ platforms compared to PCR-cluster-based sequencers, highlighting the improved accuracy of DNBSEQ technology.

CoolMPS, introduced in 2019, is the first nucleobase-specific antibody-based sequencing chemistry, avoiding DNA “scars” that can accumulate in traditional sequencing methods. The process uses natural bases and four fluorescently labelled antibodies to accurately recognise incorporated bases, resulting in stronger signals, higher signal-to-noise ratios, fewer systematic errors, no base scarring and longer, cleaner reads. It is compatible with all common library preparation methods.

“We are excited to bring our unique DNBSEQ-based sequencers and advanced MPS chemistry to the US genomics market,” said Dr Rade Drmanac, Chief Scientific Officer of MGI. “MGI is committed to advancing MPS technology to empower researchers and improve understanding of human and other species genomes.”

Since MGI’s first sequencer launch in 2016, adoption has grown rapidly, with over 1,600 sequencers, including the DNBSEQ-T7, delivered to more than 460 customers in 38 countries. Data from MGI instruments have supported over 800 high-level publications.
