On 5 November 2019, at the inaugural “Science Asia Biotechnology Advanced Technology Summit” in Beijing, MGI showcased its latest sequencing innovations, including the DNBelab C4 and DNBSEQ-400 high-throughput sequencers. Dr Shang Zhouchun delivered a presentation titled Dissecting Cell Heterogeneity Using Single-Cell Omics Powered by DNBSEQ™, attracting strong interest from experts and peers.
Pocket Single-Cell Lab
Single-cell sequencing remains a major focus in the field. MGI’s DNBelab C4 portable single-cell system empowers researchers with a lightweight 220g device that requires no external power or equipment. Barcode addition is simplified with a single pull, enabling streamlined sample preparation. When paired with MGI’s sequencers and recommended single-cell analysis software, it delivers efficient, accurate single-cell sequencing.
DNBSEQ-G400 High-Throughput Sequencer
MGI also highlighted its flagship DNBSEQ-G400 platform, a comprehensive high-throughput sequencer supporting two chip specifications simultaneously. Known as MGISEQ-2000 in China and some international markets, it provides flexibility for diverse applications in both scientific research and clinical studies.
Driving Large-Scale Single-Cell Sequencing
In her presentation, Dr Shang detailed the advantages of DNBSEQ™ and stLFR technology for large-scale single-cell studies. “Single-cell sequencing has significantly enhanced our understanding of cell heterogeneity. DNBSEQ™ avoids PCR-induced errors, providing high-accuracy data with low repeat rates and minimal label hopping,” she explained. Combined with stLFR, it enables high-throughput full-length RNA analysis, offering new strategies for single-cell research.
Expert Recognition
During the conference’s expert tour, Dr Shang introduced the full spectrum of MGI platforms, from the DNBSEQ E series benchtop sequencers to the DNBSEQ-T7 ultra-high throughput system, along with CoolMPS technology and automated sample preparation systems. Experts praised MGI’s rapid technological progress and recognised its role in advancing life sciences research with diverse, cutting-edge digital tools.
Conference Overview
Hosted by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and sponsored by Science Magazine, the summit is a leading platform for frontier academic exchange in China, covering gene editing, stem cells, disease modelling, and single-cell technologies.
