Launched by BEYOND Expo in 2020, the BEYOND Healthcare Innovation Award recognises healthcare companies that deliver innovative products and services featuring breakthrough technologies and industry-leading solutions, while showcasing the potential of technological innovation. At the 2023 award ceremony held on 12 May, MGI received the award for the T20, a genome sequencer that has set new benchmarks for ultra-high throughput and cost efficiency, with the capability to generate up to 50,000 whole-genome sequences per year at a sub-hundred-dollar cost per genome.
The T20 was first introduced at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) conference in the United States in February 2023. Its launch has accelerated progress in human genomics and medical applications, driving global genomics development and fundamentally reshaping the industry ecosystem. Since then, the T20 has been widely adopted by research institutions and healthcare providers. In April 2023, MGI secured its first corporate T20 order with Shanghai-based JMDNA Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. The platform’s ability to deliver affordable, high-quality sequencing data at scale has made it a compelling choice for researchers and clinicians seeking to expand genomic research capacity and accelerate discovery.
