Through these partnerships, MGI will provide its state-of-the-art sequencing and laboratory automation platforms to local partners across Latin America, underscoring its commitment to expanding access to genomics and improving human health in the region.

The healthcare landscape in Latin America is evolving rapidly, with growing demand for high-throughput sequencing technologies as populations age, cancer incidence increases, and chronic diseases become more prevalent. Genetic testing enables researchers to analyse DNA and RNA sequences to study disease-associated genetic variation and support more targeted treatment approaches. However, limited access to advanced technologies and training, driven largely by high instrument and maintenance costs, has hindered broader adoption. In response, MGI is committed to facilitating genomics for all by equipping local laboratories and institutions with innovative life science tools and enhancing their genetic testing capabilities.
Founded in 2011 in Mexico City, Genos Médica provides comprehensive care for patients and families affected by hereditary diseases through clinical consultation services and a specialised laboratory. To address growing genetic testing demands nationwide, Genos Médica has partnered with MGI to establish an efficient end-to-end workflow with faster turnaround times, incorporating MGI’s DNBSEQ-T7* ultra-high-throughput genetic sequencer, DNBSEQ-G50* benchtop genetic sequencer, MGISP-960 high-throughput automated sample preparation system and the ZTRON data platform appliance.

Meanwhile, in Chile, TCL Group, a well-established provider of diagnostic and biotechnology solutions with 28 years of local experience, has partnered with MGI to import five units of the versatile DNBSEQ-G400* benchtop sequencer and three units of the ultra-high-speed DNBSEQ-G99* sequencer. These systems will offer customers accurate, efficient and cost-effective sequencing solutions. In addition, TCL Group has purchased MGISP-960 and MGISP-100 automated sample preparation systems to support emerging market needs.

Earlier this year, MGI announced a partnership with Gencell in Colombia to support this goal. By combining Gencell’s local expertise and market presence with MGI’s advanced DNBSEQ™ technology, the collaboration aims to expand Gencell’s sequencing capacity and data analysis capabilities through a complete workflow incorporating several MGI solutions, including DNBSEQ-T7*, DNBSEQ-G400*, MGISP-960, MGISP-100 and ZTRON.
To further strengthen support for customers and partners across Latin America, MGI is set to open a new Customer Experience Center (CEC) in São Paulo, Brazil, by Q1 2024. As a regional service hub, the CEC will provide MGI’s growing customer base with access to high-throughput sequencing expertise and specialised automation workflows, helping to elevate technical capabilities across the region.
