MGI has expanded its DNA sequencing and laboratory automation products in Latin America, signing agreements with leading distributors in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico.

Through these experienced partners, MGI can immediately offer products to research, clinical and diagnostic markets. Distributors have acquired MGI sequencers and other instruments to provide local demonstrations and training for potential customers. They will also provide pre-sale, application support, sales, and after-sales services. MGI’s own LATAM commercial team, including regional sales managers, field scientists and engineers, will support both direct and indirect activities to ensure successful adoption.

MGI announced distribution partnerships with Datamed (Brazil), Lobov (Argentina), Kossodo (Peru), RecordQ (Ecuador), Gencell Pharma (Colombia) and Quimica Valaner (Mexico).

“Our channel partners and distributors bring decades of experience in importing and commercialising laboratory instrumentation and reagents, as well as introducing molecular and genetic testing products to these markets,” said Carlos M. Carpio MSc, Commercial Director, LATAM for MGI. He added that MGI is actively interviewing additional distributor candidates to further expand its presence in the region.

Early adoption of MGI technology in Latin America is already underway. Three laboratories recently acquired MGI instruments:

  • Biogenar–Precision Medicine (Argentina): MGISEQ-2000RS high-throughput sequencer and MGISP-100 library preparation system.
  • Gencell Pharma (Colombia): MGISEQ-2000RS sequencer, MGISP-100 library preparation system, and automatic flow cell loader MGIDL-200RS.
  • Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz, Brazil): DNBSEQ-G400RS (MGISEQ-2000RS) and DNBSEQ-G50RS (MGISEQ-200RS) high-throughput sequencers, in partnership with MGI for scientific collaboration.
