MGI MGISP-100 Automates Tumor Library Preparation for Hospital Sequencing
As demand for in-hospital tumor gene testing grows, manual library preparation has become a bottleneck due to its complexity and time requirements. Conventional hybrid capture library construction requires multiple labs and significant technician attention from 8 am to 6 pm, limiting efficiency and stability.
To address this, MGI developed the MGISP-100 automated library preparation system, released in 2017 at ICG-12. Designed for hospital use, it handles 8–16 samples at a time, fits on a desktop, and reduces manual operation to under 10 minutes.
In 2018, MGISP-100 was validated for oncology applications, automating hybrid capture and DNB preparation. It supports kits such as the “Hua Fei Ran Lung Cancer Detection Kit”, processing 100 ng FFPE samples, detecting mutations as low as 1%, and achieving over 99% library construction success.
By 2019, MGISP-100 expanded its versatility through collaborations with third-party tumor detection kit providers like Paragon Genomics and Pillar Biosciences, enabling multiple PCR targeting applications. It became the first globally registered automated library system with NMPA certification in February 2019.
In 2020, MGI plans further collaborations to broaden platform compatibility with hybrid capture and other sequencing technologies, promoting adoption of high-throughput tumor detection in hospitals worldwide.
