Beijing, China – At the 3rd International Precision Medical Convention (P4 China 2018), MGI Tech Co., Ltd. showcased its latest high-throughput automated sample preparation system, MGISP-960, attracting attention from experts, scholars, and industry peers.
With the rapid growth of sequencing, manual sample preparation has become a bottleneck for many laboratories. The MGISP-960 addresses this challenge by fully automating nucleic acid extraction, magnetic bead purification, enzymatic reactions, PCR, size selection, target capture, and DNB formation.
Dr. Jingjing Wang, Product Manager of MGI, explained:
“MGISP-960 can complete 96 WES libraries in 34.5 hours with only 2 hours of manual operation. Traditional manual preparation takes 72 hours for the same workload.”
The MGISP-960 supports 8–96 samples per run, with a 24-position board accommodating multiple functional modules. It seamlessly integrates with high-throughput sequencers such as MGISEQ-T7, completing the sample prep of one flow cell per run and generating approximately 1.2T of data.
MGI emphasises that the MGISP-960 improves efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and standardisation, enhancing productivity in NGS laboratories. The system also supports applications beyond genomics, including cell biology, drug discovery, protein science, and analytical chemistry.
