16–20 March 2019, Southeast Asia – MGI presented its Microbial Detection Total Solution across a series of academic events in Singapore and Thailand, highlighting its capabilities in rapid and accurate pathogen identification.
At the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) in Singapore, a joint initiative between SingHealth and Duke-NUS Medical School, Dr Erin Zhang, Product Manager at MGI, introduced the company’s high-throughput sequencing-based pathogen detection workflow. The solution enables comprehensive screening and has demonstrated effectiveness in identifying pathogens in complex cases where conventional diagnostic methods were inconclusive.
The solution integrates sequencing technology with a curated microbial database containing nearly 20,000 genome sequences, supporting fast and reliable analysis across a wide range of infectious agents.
MGI also participated in a microbiome workshop hosted by the Institute of Molecular Biosciences at Mahidol University in Thailand. During the session, the application of MGI’s microbial detection platform in research and clinical settings was presented, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and turnaround time.
MGI continues to advance its microbial detection capabilities and is seeking collaboration with hospitals, public health organisations and research institutions to support the development of precision diagnostics for infectious diseases.
