On 24 October 2019, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of recognised “2019 Shenzhen Enterprise Technology Centres”.

Following a multi-stage evaluation process—including application review, auditing, quantitative assessment, site inspection, and expert evaluation—33 companies across 10 industries were selected. Within the biomedical sector, only three companies were recognised, including MGI.

The programme identifies enterprises with strong innovation capabilities, effective R&D systems, and industry leadership. Selected companies receive policy support aimed at strengthening technological advancement and driving industrial innovation.

MGI’s technology centre operates as an integrated platform combining research, development, and commercialisation. Its focus areas include automated library preparation systems, NGS workflows, high-throughput sequencing platforms, and advanced laboratory automation technologies.

The centre follows a market-oriented operating model, supported by structured R&D leadership and cross-functional coordination. It also leverages collaboration with universities, research institutes, and industry partners to accelerate the development and application of new technologies.

This recognition reflects MGI’s ongoing investment in innovation and its capability to develop and scale advanced sequencing technologies. The company will continue to strengthen its R&D systems and contribute to the broader advancement of the life sciences sector.
