During the 13th International Thyroid Awareness Week, MGI’s 5G-powered Robotic Ultrasound Vehicle travelled 1,633 kilometres from Shanghai to Xujiaba Town, Sinan County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, bringing high-quality voluntary medical services to local residents. Supported by the vehicle, thyroidologists from Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital provided free thyroid disease diagnosis.
The robotic vehicle, MGIUS-R3, allows professional sonographers to maintain communication with patients through an interactive screen. Its robotic arm, equipped with multiple sensitive ultrasound probes, uses a flexible manipulator system to replicate expert manual techniques accurately. Local residents expressed their appreciation and hope that the service will continue to reach more rural areas in the future.
This initiative represents a significant step in distributing advanced medical resources to resource-constrained regions, making high-quality healthcare more accessible.
MGI’s 5G-powered Robotic Ultrasound Vehicle integrates a remote ultrasound robot, artificial intelligence (AI) diagnosis software, and 5G connectivity into a mobile platform. Its flexibility, mobility, and ease of operation overcome the time and distance limitations of traditional ultrasound diagnostics. In the near future, the system is expected to provide regular screening services directly to citizens’ homes, enabling real-time, high-quality examinations without the need to travel.
