On 20 December 2021, MGI signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Anngeen Technology (Anngeen) in Beijing. Under this agreement, MGI and Anngeen will collaborate on R&D of genetic detection products for cardiovascular diseases using the DNBSEQ-400 gene sequencer* and promote access to personalised diagnosis and treatment programs in hospitals, benefiting patients with inherited cardiovascular diseases.
Expansion into Hereditary Disease Diagnostics
Anngeen will also develop whole-exome sequencing diagnostic products for hereditary nephropathy, hereditary tumours, and haematological diseases on the DNBSEQ-400 gene sequencer*, supporting clinical application and transformation of high-throughput sequencing technology in hereditary disease detection.
High-Throughput Sequencing Enables Accurate Cardiovascular Detection
China has approximately 330 million people with cardiovascular diseases, including around 40 million with monogenic cardiovascular diseases that are difficult to diagnose based on clinical symptoms alone. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial. Using MGI proprietary DNBSEQ™ technology, DNBSEQ-G400* is a comprehensive, flexible production-scale sequencer that supports multi-sequencing modes, increases accuracy, reduces duplicates, and minimises index hopping, making it ideal for early and differential diagnosis of monogenic cardiovascular disease patients and their relatives.
