MGI has developed a holistic, full-process automation product line covering sample pretreatment, automated nucleic acid extraction, and pipetting workstations, expanding its laboratory automation business.
MGI’s systems have been applied in genome sequencing for years, featuring proprietary automation technologies for nucleic acid processing, including pipetting and temperature control platforms. These systems are essential for high-throughput sequencing, solving the efficiency and accuracy limitations of traditional manual sample preparation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of MGI automation systems were deployed on the frontline in China and internationally, attracting global attention. The surge in large-scale nucleic acid testing has accelerated the adoption of laboratory automation, which also supports scientific and clinical research, tumour screening, precision medicine, and pathogen detection, catering to diverse applications and user needs.
Deep Technology Expertise
With extensive experience in library preparation, sequencing, and experimentation, MGI’s automation equipment has supported over 24 provincial-level regions in China and the COVID-19 response in more than 70 countries, including France, Singapore, Sweden, Laos, and Latvia. As the life science industry evolves, MGI continues to offer innovative products and a one-stop platform, enabling laboratories to become automated, smart, and data-driven.
MGI provides pipetting workstations with throughputs ranging from 1–96, while also offering ultra-high-throughput, unattended library preparation production lines. These handle reaction system configuration, sample assembly, normalization and pooling, magnetic bead purification, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to meet diverse application needs.
Customised Consumables for Greater Flexibility
MGI automation systems are supported by stable, highly customisable consumables, including tips, tubes, plates, slots, and adapters, providing complete automated library preparation solutions tailored to special requirements.
Third-Party Compatibility and Market Adaptation
A key measure of a manufacturer’s flexibility is compatibility with third-party processes. As of 2021, MGI’s pipetting workstations support 128 processes, including 28 common third-party workflows. This allows laboratories to quickly adopt third-party applications, meet growing market demand, and improve operational efficiency.
