On 15 June 2022, the 2022 Future Medical VB 100 List was unveiled by VB 100, VB Data, and VCBeat Research. MGI was named among the Top 100 Innovative Medical Equipment Companies in China and received the Future Medical VB 100 Pengcheng Award – Leading Enterprise of the Year.
Founded in 2015, the Future Medical VB 100 is China’s first award list recognising private innovative healthcare companies. The Top 100 list highlights companies driving healthcare innovation, and over the past seven years it has expanded to the global healthcare ecosystem, engaging enterprises, investors, hospitals, and industrial parks. The annual campaign attracts attention from both the healthcare industry and the investment community.
The virtual Future Medical VB 100 conference showcased the stories of life science in China. The award ceremony took place on the evening of 15 June, with Jiang Hui, COO of MGI, attending and delivering a speech.
Bi Yuanfeng, COO of VB Data, praised MGI during the interactive session: “MGI is a role model of Chinese innovative technology companies and one of the few upstream enterprises continuously developing life-science tools in China.”
Responding, Jiang Hui said: “MGI is honoured to be featured in the Top 100 Chinese Innovative Medical Equipment Companies for the third time. We are committed to leading life science innovation, developing and promoting advanced tools for future healthcare. This award reflects our long-term devotion to innovation and confirms we are on the right path.”
Looking ahead, Jiang Hui outlined MGI’s plans: in research, the company will focus on genetic sequencers, lab automation, and new business applications, including large-scale population genomics, single-cell omics, and spatiotemporal omics. In the clinical field, MGI aims to advance precision genetic testing in reproductive health, oncology, infection, and chronic diseases, leveraging sequencers and automation to enhance understanding and prevention. In new areas such as disease control and agriculture, MGI intends to explore further applications of life science tools.
“We firmly believe in the power of innovation and are committed to continuous research and development of new products,” Jiang Hui concluded. “In September this year, MGI will launch a new sequencer, so please stay tuned.”
