Cell Innovator places a strong focus on supporting the local scientific community in the Kyushu region of Japan. With an open approach to new technologies and platforms, the organisation actively seeks collaborations with industry innovators to help bridge the gap between research methodologies and practical scientific applications. Since 2011, Cell Innovator has co-authored more than 40 scientific papers.

MGI recently spoke with Kaori Yasuda, CEO of Cell Innovator, about their experience using the DNBSEQ-G400RS Genetic Sequencer and the MGISP-100RS Automated Sample Preparation System since 2019.

What type of projects are you running on the DNBSEQ-G400RS and MGISP-100RS?

Kaori Yasuda: We are mainly running RNA-seq analysis projects on these instruments. Our main business focus is providing a one-stop solution, from experimental design and consultation to RNA extraction, sequencing and data analysis.

Why did you choose the MGI platform? What key differences have you experienced?

Kaori Yasuda: MGI can provide the same quality results in a more efficient and labour-saving way thanks to its innovative technology. Before installing the DNBSEQ-G400RS and MGISP-100RS, we had to send all received samples to external service providers. Installing these systems expanded our business capabilities and enabled us to provide a complete one-stop service.

How is the DNBSEQ sequencing platform supporting your projects?

Kaori Yasuda: The platform helps reduce total costs, including maintenance, operation and labour costs. This makes it possible for us to offer an attractive RNA-seq service to our customers at a lower price.

What has been your experience with the MGISP-100RS Automated Sample Preparation System?

Kaori Yasuda: There are many preparation steps that normally need to be done manually, but the MGISP-100RS is an automated workstation designed for high-throughput sequencing library preparation. With its integrated 8-channel pipettes, the MGISP-100RS processes samples in batches, reduces overall costs and significantly improves laboratory efficiency.

Will you consider a long-term partnership with MGI? Why?

Kaori Yasuda: It has been a pleasure working with MGI. The company always provides swift service whenever issues arise. The service team follows up quickly and can guide customers through initial troubleshooting over the phone when necessary. Most importantly, we are very satisfied with the data quality from the DNBSEQ-G400RS and the advantages of the MGISP-100RS in reducing labour costs and simplifying operation. Therefore, we will certainly consider continuing our partnership with MGI for as long as the instruments remain in operation.

About Cell Innovator

Established in October 2008 by a team of scientists from Kyushu University in Japan, Cell Innovator provides microarray analysis, gene expression analysis and other scientific services to universities, pharmaceutical companies and research institutes across Japan.

The organisation does not focus on scaling its services through capital investment or profit-driven expansion. Instead, it is dedicated to delivering consistent, high-quality services for the scientific community. These services include conducting experiments, analysing data, producing reports such as heat maps, pathway analysis and clustering, and providing comprehensive support to every customer.

Unless otherwise specified, all sequencers and sequencing reagents are not available in Germany, USA, Spain, UK, Hong Kong, Sweden and Belgium.
