The Double Ninth Festival, or Chong Yang Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrating health and longevity. It is a time for families to show care for the elderly and enjoy the autumn outdoors. The festival falls on the 9th day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
On this special day, MGI supported Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine by providing voluntary remote ultrasound services to elderly residents at a local nursing home in Wuhan. Using the MGI Robotic Ultrasound System, sonographers conducted real-time examinations from 20 kilometres away, enabling high-quality medical care without leaving home.
Advanced remote ultrasonic diagnosis
Yan Wei, Director of the Ultrasound Imaging Department at Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, highlighted two key advantages: the flexibility of the robotic arm and the quality of the ultrasound images. The MGIUS-R3 system allows multiple sensitive probes to be mounted on the robotic arm, synchronises real-time manual operation, and enables remote adjustment of parameters such as frequency, gain, depth and focus.
An elderly resident remarked, “This examination is really different. MGI’s remote ultrasound robot allows real-time diagnosis without a physician being present. We can now receive high-quality medical services at home.”
