MGISEQ-2000 Installed at Thailand’s Medical Genetics Center
The installation of an MGISEQ-2000 genetic sequencer at Thailand’s Medical Genetics Center (MGC) is now complete. The center is fully operational, running whole-exome sequencing (WES) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) on MGI’s high-throughput platform.
Advanced Genetic Services at MGC
MGC offers a wide range of laboratory services and genetic counselling, from chromosome-level abnormality detection to DNA-level analysis. Services include:
- Chromosome analysis from blood, amniotic fluid and CVS
- Non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS) using NGS
- Aneuploidy testing via NGS
- PGT-A, PGT-M, and PGT-SR for embryos
The center is led by Dr Verayuth Praphanphoj and a team of medical professionals and scientists, committed to advancing genomic diagnostics in Thailand.
Enhancing Detection Accuracy
With the addition of the MGISEQ-2000, MGC now uses cutting-edge Next Generation Sequencing technology, enabling more precise molecular-level detection of genetic abnormalities compared to traditional methods.
Dr Praphanphoj stated that improving genetic disorder detection capabilities with the new instrument will benefit patients and families, reduce the burden of disease, and enhance quality of life.
