11–13 February 2019, South Korea – MGI showcased its MGISEQ-2000 sequencing system at the 15th KOGO Winter Symposium, held by the Korea Genome Organization, in collaboration with local distributor BMS.
The platform attracted strong interest from researchers and industry professionals in the Korean next-generation sequencing (NGS) market. During the event, Dr Chen Fang presented MGI’s sequencing technology portfolio, including the DNBSEQ-T7 ultra-high-throughput system, and outlined the company’s focus on improving accessibility and cost efficiency in genomics.
MGI’s sequencing platforms, combined with its single-tube long fragment read (stLFR) technology, enable high-accuracy whole genome sequencing with enhanced efficiency. The DNBSEQ-T7 system is capable of generating up to 6 Tb of data per day, supporting large-scale research and population genomics projects.
MGI also highlighted growing adoption in South Korea. Earlier in 2019, the company announced the installation of its 1000th sequencer globally, including deployment at LAS (Life Is Art of Science Co., Ltd.), a genomics company focused on clinical diagnostic applications.
“We made a great choice with the MGISEQ-2000 sequencer,” said Dr Dongho Kim, Lab Director at LAS. “We experienced high accuracy and user-friendly workflows for DNA and RNA sequencing, along with relatively low running costs.”
MGI continues to expand its presence in the Korean market, working with local partners to support research and clinical applications of genomic sequencing.
