MGI Launches Nationwide Anti-Epidemic Initiative
Since the joint anti-epidemic initiative was launched on 1 February 2020, 131 companies have joined the effort as of 17:00 on 2 February, including 78 new participants. These companies have committed to temporarily suspending some scientific research and business operations to provide critical support, including PCR laboratories, gene amplification test labs, P2 labs, CAP-certified labs, automated nucleic acid analyzers, fully automated capillary electrophoresis instruments, sequencers, and PCR instruments. They have also contributed dozens of test kits, professionals, and tens of millions of yuan in donations, covering 22 provinces and cities including Hubei, Beijing, Liaoning, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Shanghai, Heilongjiang, and Tianjin.
The fight against the novel coronavirus has entered a critical stage. While national strength is strong, global resource deployment presents challenges. With incremental resources taking time, it is essential to integrate existing assets and direct them efficiently to the front lines.
We call on life sciences industry leaders and entrepreneurial experts nationwide to join the initiative, integrating professional resources and scientific talent to combat the epidemic through innovation.
How to Contribute
Every contribution counts: lending a PCR instrument, volunteering expertise, donating test kits, preparing training materials, providing masks or protective clothing, or offering isolation facilities. Institutions with sequencers, qPCR instruments, lab space, and kits have pledged their resources to support anti-virus efforts.
Currently, 53 companies have agreed to suspend certain operations and provide laboratory resources, instruments, test kits, professionals, and monetary support across 18 provinces, including Beijing, Hubei, Liaoning, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Shanghai, Heilongjiang, and Tianjin.
Through careful selection and integration of resources, we will support Hubei and other regions with urgent needs via personnel training, instrument lending, reagent donations, and resource sharing in accordance with local disease control guidelines.
We urge institutions with relevant capabilities to unite. Together, we can accelerate epidemic control and restore normal production and daily life. The outcome depends on the collective effort of each institution and individual.
