MGI Launches Magnetic Beads TQ01 for High-Efficiency Nucleic Acid Extraction

As COVID-19 testing has become widespread, ensuring the quality, stability, and cost control of raw materials has become critical. To address this, MGI launched its self-developed, mass-produced Magnetic Beads TQ01, a key raw material for MGI’s nucleic acid extraction reagents and the MGIEasy Stool Human DNA Extraction Kit.

Magnetic beads are essential for nucleic acid extraction. Compared with column-based methods, magnetic bead reagents are better suited to automated systems, meeting the efficiency and reliability requirements of large-scale nucleic acid testing. With rapid magnetic response, strong adsorption capacity, and automation-friendly features, Magnetic Beads TQ01 efficiently capture trace nucleic acids from diverse samples, including viral RNA/DNA and fecal genomic DNA.

Product Performance

Magnetic Beads TQ01 are highly uniform in particle size (CV < 5%), with minimal batch-to-batch variation, making them suitable for clinical applications. Their large surface area enhances nucleic acid adsorption, enabling efficient capture from various sample types.

Applications

1. Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction

Using MGIEasy nucleic acid extraction reagents with TQ01 beads, COVID-19 pseudovirus samples of varying concentrations can be detected reliably, achieving stable detection at 100 copies/mL. The beads demonstrate excellent viral nucleic acid capture efficiency, with Ct values showing CV < 5% over 20 replicates.

2. Fecal Genomic DNA Extraction

The MGIEasy Stool Human DNA Extraction Kit with TQ01 beads efficiently extracts genomic DNA from fecal samples (~200 mg) from healthy donors. Tests show high yield and purity both manually and on automation systems (MGISP-960 and MGISP-NE384), demonstrating effective genomic DNA extraction from complex samples.

As a core life science tool, Magnetic Beads TQ01 is MGI’s first raw material product. It supports large-scale nucleic acid testing and can be used in the preparation of extraction reagents, providing a reliable, high-performance solution for diverse laboratory applications.
