Recently, the Award Ceremony and Designers’ Night of the 2021 Contemporary Good Design Award concluded successfully at Xiamen Red Dot Design Museum. The Red Dot Design Award is an international German design prize awarded by Red Dot GmbH & Co. KG.
MGI Wins Good Design Gold Award
For the fifth consecutive year, the Contemporary Good Design Award has partnered with Red Dot to recognise well-designed, contemporary products that serve as a guideline for consumers. MGI’s DNBSEQ™ sequencing platforms, including the DNBelab D series*, DNBSEQ E series* and Cube (modular), won the Good Design Gold Award. These products have also previously received the German iF Design Award.
DNBelab D series* is a modular digital biolab, while DNBSEQ E series* is a portable genetic sequencer*. Both can be used independently or together to provide a flexible and complete library preparation and sequencing workflow, making gene sequencing more accessible for scientific research, medical and healthcare applications.
Award-Winning Design Features
Both DNBelab D series* and DNBSEQ E series* are small-footprint dry systems (~0.1 square metre, <15 kg), easy to operate and maintain. They are highly customisable and versatile to meet different user needs, offering an exceptional experience for various applications.
Mr. Gordon Bruce, Judge of the Red Dot Award, praised MGI’s products for their portability, simplicity and user-friendly operation. “Its design presents a perfectly coordinated product combination. The consistency conveys a deep-thinking concept to users and demonstrates a trustworthy and professional attitude,” he commented.
About Contemporary Good Design Award
The Contemporary Good Design Award (CGD) is an international design award organised by Red Dot, initiated in 2015 by Red Dot GmbH & Co. KG and Xiamen Culture Media Group. Leveraging more than six decades of expertise, Red Dot oversees the judging process, ensuring professionalism, fairness and authoritativeness. Outstanding products receive recognition for top design achievement and benefit from professional winner services. Jurors assess whether the design meets top international standards rather than comparing entries against one another.
*Unless otherwise informed, all sequencers and sequencing reagents are not available in Germany, USA, Spain, UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, Belgium or Italy.
