Expanding Access to Advanced Sequencing Chemistry
Over the past year, MGI has significantly expanded its European footprint. In April, the company introduced its latest HotMPS* sequencing chemistry in selected European markets. Commercial availability followed in the United Kingdom and Germany in July and September respectively.
Built on combinatorial Probe Anchor Synthesis (cPAS) technology within MGI’s proprietary DNBSEQ™ platform***, HotMPS* delivers major advances in sequencing chemistry. The new reagent offers stronger signal intensity, reduced systematic sequence-based errors and compatibility with commonly used library preparation methods.
Strengthening Regional Infrastructure
In July, MGI established a new central European office in Wehrheim, Germany. This was followed by the opening of its first overseas Customer Experience Centre (CEC) in Riga, Latvia, in October, and two additional CECs in London and Berlin in November.
These investments underscore MGI’s long-term commitment to the European genomics ecosystem and its focus on deeper engagement with customers and partners across the region.

Wehrheim Office and European Operations
Located just 30 km north of Frankfurt, MGI’s Wehrheim office serves as the company’s European operational hub. It houses the majority of MGI’s regional human resources team, supporting recruitment and organisational growth to meet increasing business demand.
The site also includes warehouse facilities equipped with MGI’s advanced technologies***, providing operational support for marketing, Field Application Specialist and Field Service Engineer teams across Europe.
Customer Experience Centres Across Europe
The 150-square-metre CEC in Riga complements MGI’s existing demo laboratories in Australia and Japan. It provides customers and partners with hands-on access to high-throughput sequencing platforms and specialised automation workflows.
In addition to live demonstrations, the Riga facility supports third-party product compatibility validation and functions as a training centre for MGI staff and distributors.
The London CEC, operated in partnership with the BRC Genomics Facility at Imperial College London, is equipped with MGI’s advanced automation and sequencing solutions***, including the UK’s first DNBSEQ-G400 sequencer**. The site supports applications such as metagenomics, spatial transcriptomics, microbiome analysis, spatiotemporal omics, WGS, WES and RNA sequencing.
Similarly, the Berlin CEC was established through a partnership with ALACRiS Theranostics GmbH, a leading precision medicine network in Germany. The collaboration combines MGI’s sequencing platforms with ALACRiS’s clinical expertise to support precision medicine across multiple cancer indications. The facility also serves as a centre for product demonstrations, training, testing and customer engagement.
