MGI Tech in Scotland

Glasgow, UK, 14 June 2023 – MGI Tech Co., Ltd. (MGI), a company dedicated to developing core tools and technologies to advance life science, held a Corporate Satellite Meeting at the ESHG Conference in Glasgow, where it announced significant local partnerships. These collaborations reinforce MGI’s strategic focus on the European life sciences market and underscore the company’s commitment to innovation in sequencing and automation technologies.

During the meeting, MGI, a leading provider of gene sequencing platforms and sample preparation systems, announced its partnership with Sistemas Genomicos, an esteemed user of the DNBSEQ platform. Alejandra Pérez presented outstanding results of its CE-IVD Whole Exome Sequencing solution on the MGI platform. In addition, Nik Matthews, a prominent genomic expert from Imperial College London, provided insights into the workflow of the new NEB library preparation solution, highlighting its advantages for DNBSEQ users. Notably, Prof. Yannis Pitsiladis presented his multi-omic approach to combatting drug abuse in sports using the DNBSEQ platform, demonstrating its versatility and potential.

MGI also signed a strategic partnership with Alithea Genomics, a Swiss company pioneering bulk RNA sequencing. Alithea Genomics has developed extraction-free and massively multiplexed RNA-seq library preparation solutions fully compatible with MGI platforms. This partnership will enhance MGI-based technologies and expand in-house capacity, keeping MGI at the forefront of RNA sequencing innovation.

The event attracted a broad audience of researchers, both in person and online, as well as senior MGI executives. It provided a platform for MGI to strengthen its commitment to local collaborations in Europe, a region recognised for world-class academic and public research funding, rigorous regulatory standards, and a wide range of clinical applications.
