Changchun, China, 23 September 2021 – The 13th China-Northeast Asia Expo is taking place from 23 to 27 September in Changchun, in Northeast China’s Jilin province. MGI is showcasing its innovative platforms, including the MGI Container Lab and the MGISTP-7000 High-throughput Automated Sample Transfer Processing System, which have significantly contributed to China’s participation in international cooperation to combat COVID-19.

The MGISTP-7000 integrates tube uncapping, tube recapping, barcode identification, automated liquid transfer and negative pressure protection. With a single click, it can load original capped samples and transfer up to 192 samples from airtight sample tubes or plain tubes to 96-well microplates in 40 minutes, with zero human contact during the process.

The MGISTP-7000 minimises the labour required and significantly shortens the time needed to transfer and prepare samples, improving operational efficiency and testing throughput. It has supported multiple international efforts in the fight against COVID-19.

Automation supporting pandemic response

MGI automation systems are playing an instrumental role in national pandemic prevention and control by enabling rapid COVID-19 testing turnaround times. To date, MGI’s innovative platforms have supported 24 cities across China.

In March this year, the MGI Container Lab supported large-scale COVID-19 testing in Stockholm, Sweden, helping safeguard the World Figure Skating Championships.

As of December 2020, MGI had provided instrumental support for the diagnosis of suspected COVID-19 cases and the subsequent research and analysis of the virus in more than 50 countries, contributing to the global fight against COVID-19.
